Sleepless Babies 2019

この作品は2017年制作の作品《Sleepless Babies》を展示会場に合わせて新たに再構成したものである。基本的な作品構成は2017年の展示に準じている。2017年の展示空間が既存ギャラリーのホワイトキューブ状のものであったのに対し、この作品の展示場所は天井の高いコンクリート打ちっ放しの倉庫状の空間である。これによって、作品はサイトスペシフィック性がより強いものになっている。例えば、配電盤やシャッターなど既存の設備が鉄製フェンスによってアレンジされるとともに、フェンス内の鉄製ベッドがコンクリートの床に空いた穴に半分埋まるかたちで設置されている。特に前作と大きく異なるのは、一つの壁面にマトリックス状にまとまって配置されていたスプーン（とその容器）であり、本作では作品空間全体を取り囲むように水平に配置され、作品空間と日本地図の重層関係が強調されている。またコンクリート製の床や壁面は様々な装置が出す音の反響を際立たせている。（参照：《Sleepless Babies》(2017) ）

This work is a reconstructed the 2017 work Sleepless Babies to suit the exhibition space. The basic structure based on the 2017 exhibition. Whereas the 2017 exhibition space was like a white cube in the existing gallery, space for this work is a high-ceiling, concrete-walls' and warehouse-like space. It makes the work more site-specific. For example, existing equipment such as switchboards or large shutters arranged by a steel fence, and the iron bed inside the fence installed so that it is half-filled in the holes vacated on the concrete floor. Especially, the big difference from the previous work is the spoons (and their containers) arranged in a matrix on one wall. In this work, the spoons arranged horizontally to surround the entire workspace and emphasize the multi-layered relationship between the workspace and the map of Japan. Besides, concrete floors and walls accentuate the reverberation of sound produced by various devices. (See the work sleepless Babies (2017))
