京都アンデパンダン展での最初の展示。1983年に同じ会場で展示された林剛・中塚祐子による作品《THE COART》への「批評・応答としての作品」を制作する試み。 作品《THE QUARTER FINAL》は、参照元となる「THE COART」に対峙するような「COART」の別形態のインスタレーションに加え、これらの作品の関連テキストや図面、ミニチュアを含んでいる。元の作品で使われていた鏡面ネットは透明に変化し、図面やテキストなどが記されたパネル群がテニスコートを囲んでいる。
The first exhibit at the "Kyoto Independent Exhibition" and attempt to create a "work as a criticism/response" for the work "THE COART" by Goh Hayashi and Yuko Nakatsuka, which exhibited at the same venue in 1983. In addition to the installation of another form of "COART" that confronts the reference work "THE COART," this work "The Quarter Final" includes some related texts, drawings, miniatures, etc. In this work, the mirror net used in the original work has changed to transparent, and a panel group with drawings and texts surrounds the tennis court.
