the Annouciation

1991年から開始した人と機械・生態システムとの界面をテーマとする「Interface/Eros」シリーズの四作目となる。 シモーヌ・マルティーニの絵画「受胎告知」やカトリック修道院の僧坊のイメージを元に、コンピュータを含む機械状システムによる新たな受胎告知像を提示しようとした。作品《Pendulum》で用いた二台のスライドプロジェクターのPC制御に加え、多くのPICマイクロコンピュータを使用する。作品は三つのセクションから構成される。セクション1では、一台のコンピュータが自らキーボードを動かし描画プログラムを動かしている。セクション２には六台のブースが立ち並び、観客が奥に進むに従い、ブース内部の「受胎告知」画像は次第に崩壊する。最後のセクション3は広い空間で、スライド画像が正面の壁に次々に投影される。ここでも「受胎告知」の画像が次第に崩壊する。

The fourth work in the Interface/Eros series, which started in 1991 with the theme of the interface between humans and machinery/ ecological system. Based on Simone Martini's Painting "The Annunciation" and an image of a monk in a Catholic monastery, we tried to present a new "Annunciation" image by a mechanical system together with a computer. In addition to the PC control of the two slide projectors used in the "Pendulum," we use a lot of PIC microcomputers. This work consists of three sections. In Section 1, a computer types its keyboard and runs a drawing program. Six rooms stand side by side in Section 2, and as the viewers move to the back room, the "Annunciation" image set inside the room gradually collapses. The last section 3 is the sizable space where slide images projected one after another on the front wall. Here too, the image of the painting "Annunciation" gradually collapses.
